When is Milling Necessary?

Asphalt milling may be appropriate in instances of crackling and raveling. If the base is in good condition, full-depth reclamation is not needed. Asphalt milling will remove the topmost layers and then a new surface can be applied.

Asphalt milling can also be used to address specific issues with small sections of pavement. When the entire surface does not need to be resurfaced, the target area can be milled without disruption to the rest of the roadway.

Wirtgen has developed an ultra-precise, proprietary leveling system including a software that has been designed specifically for cold milling machines – LEVEL PRO. The overall system includes the clearly structured LEVEL PRO panel, a controller and several sensors. The graphics-enabled LEVEL PRO panel provides a clear readout of key parameters. Set the actual values for the left and right milling depth as well as slope parameters that are clearly shown on the displays as work progresses.
